We are not a a big bookstore business. We are a company that is made up of college students who are fed up with the bookstores escalating book prices. We created this site for the intention to give us students the freedom to control the book prices.
The idea behind "LocalTexts.Com" is to provide a service that allows students to
list their used textbooks online and sell them to other students in their local
area. The reason behind the creation of this site is to stop the monopoly of
the bookstores that is going on at college campuses across the United States.
Everybody knows how the bookstores rip us off, you buy a book for a hundred
dollars and then at the end of the semester you sell it back to the bookstore
for about 30%-40% of the value price of the book. The bookstore then turns
around, and sells the same book to other students at your local college for
about 90% of what the book is worth. They give you back about $35-40 dollars
for the book and then sell it for about $88 dollars. This is a total rip off
and the bookstores must be stopped!!!
What many students don't know is there are probably many fellow students who
live in your same area that are taking the same classes. This is where our site
comes in. We are a service provider that connects students together so you can
benefit from lower book prices.
If you feel like you are being ripped off at your local bookstore. Then you
are. By using LocalTexts.com, you can sell books directly to other students at
your college. LocalTexts.Com provides you a reliable alternative to your local
campus bookstore that just wants to burn a hole in your pocket. With
LocalTexts.com we give you complete control of the price, ad, book picture, and
meeting place in your personal user account. LocalTexts.Com also saves you
money by providing discount coupons for your favorite local business around
town. There are NO LISTING FEES involved with this site. You will only have to
purchase the buyer's information for a small fee of $1.50, which is a value
compared to the bookstores average $40 dollar turnaround on each book that you
sell back to them. Instead that $40 dollar turnaround goes into your pocket.
